Just because someone often agrees to spend time with you, whether it be a potential partner or friend, doesn’t necessarily mean they value you beyond having a good time with you. Some people will waste your time and not think much of anything of it if you let them—they will waste the same time that you could be pickier about giving away to someone who shows they value you as a person as much as the time they share with you.
There’s a difference between people spending time with you out of pure boredom, lack of other choices or obligation vs. out of their value of you as a partner or friend—and it’s not as hard as we can make it to spot the difference.
